Over the weekend, Carson and I drove out to Stillwater to explore the Ice Castle that was built out there. We were fortunate that the Ice Castle was still open on Saturday. They had to close it down earlier in the week due to the warmer weather we have been having in Minnesota. Neither of us have ever been to an ice castle before so we weren’t really sure what to expect.
If you plan on attending, I would highly recommend purchasing your tickets online prior to visiting. You save about $5 per person! Cub Foods also offers coupons for the Ice Castles. Here are their prices:
Online Tickets: General Admission (12+): $12.95 Child (4-11): $8.95
Standby, At-the-Door Tickets: General Admission (12+): $18 Child (4-11): $12
We really enjoyed exploring the ice castle! It was a lot larger than I had anticipated and there were multiple activities to do. When we arrived there were fire dancers performing tricks and playing with fire. The ice castles also included a small maze, ice slides, fountains, refreshments, and more.
We ended up getting some hot cocoa and walking around for a bit. Although it was fun, we did end up seeing everything within a half hour. The ice castle activities were created for kids, but can be enjoyed by adults as well. I would recommend checking out the castle after the sun sets, that way you can really experience the lighting within the ice.
